ARNOLD ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

The Arnold Alumni Association is the largest active organization in Arnold with many of its 2000 members not being residents of Arnold. Alumni reunion is held Memorial Weekend & this event almost doubles the population of Arnold Memorial weekend.

The activities start on Friday with class reunions by the ten year classes - this year the honored classes are 1927, 1937, 1947, 1957, 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997 the class of 2007 will join the alumni. Many of the alumni enjoy being back in the old "HomeTown" visiting with old friends & making new friends.

There is a program after the banquet which is open to the public for a fee, a memorial is given in honor of the deceased alumni, 3rd & 4th generation alumni are recognized, ten year classes are presented & pictures taken of the classes, fartherest distance alumni have traveled to attend is recognized, any teachers present on the floor are recognized. The auditorium is packed for the program part of the evening.

After a short break the evening entertainment begins, which consists of whatever they want to do, & it's generally pretty entertaining.

President for 2007 is Eugene Purcell, class of '69 who along with his other duties chooses a Master of Ceremonies for the evening program. 1st Vice-President is Karen Olson, class of '65, who is in charge of the evening entertainment. 2nd Vice-President is Jolleen Andre Trumbull, class of '94 & she is in charge of the food for the banquet. Some of the honored classes have donated money from fundraisers for school equipment or upgrades. Every 5 years the Alumni Assoc. publishes a directory with alumni names & addresses, classes they were in, deceased members & other related information. A new directory is being published in 2007. The Alumni Assoc. also publishes a newspaper every year before Alumni weekend. This is possibly the most active & well-organized high school alumni association in the state of Nebraska. Any challengers?
