Todd Smith 1959 - 1997

Todd was a fighter from birth as he overcame the odds of his heart condition. The doctors said he wouldn't leave the hospital as an infant nor be expected to live to be 5, then 12, or to graduate from high school. He overcame all those odds & touched many people's lives along the way.

Although Todd was limited in the physical activities he could do, he did not let that stand in his way. He was a good farmer, running all types of equipment with ease. He was also an excellent Volunteer Fireman and Emergency Medical Technician. He attended many hours of training and made most of the calls. He kept all of the fire equipment and vehicles in tip-top shape, as he was a perfectionist in keeping everything clean.

Todd was somewhat of a jokester, always pulling a few tricks on his best friends. Also some of his favorite things included the TV sitcom, "M*A*S*H", of which he had watched every episode several times. Another interest he loved was photography, of which he was a master.

A funny story that a cousin of his shares is about attending an off-road race. Todd and three other people are suppose to be sharing a motel room. Todd came in later to find the bed was completely hogged. He was very cold so he rolled up in the shower curtain and ate hot tamales to stay warm.

Upon his death, an unexplained phenomenon happened. The fire whistle blew at the exact time of his death. This whistle was what alerted firemen and EMTs of an emergency. We all thought Todd was saying good-bye.

He touched all of our lives in many ways: he is missed by all.
